Friday night, the trio and I had a blast playing at SOMETHIN’ Jazz Club NYC. The line up was Travis Shook on piano, Sean Conly on bass and Willard Dyson on drums. We played two short sets. It was the first time I had played there. A nice intimate room that reminded me of some of the clubs in Tokyo, Japan.
It was a blast from the past night as I got to see people that I had not seen in long while. The unfortunate part about playing two short sets with another band right after, is you don’t get to visit with those “long time, no see” friends. As I see it, a situation like that gives me the opportunity to reach out and not be so distant from people that I care about.
I mentioned in one of my post on Facebook, 90% of the show was material we have never played live and I also previewed a couple of original tunes that will be on my next CD. The audience was warm, fantastic and receptive to what we played. A perfect formula to inspire us to be the best that we can be.
