I will be working with the brilliant and impeccable musicians Travis Shook on piano, Jennifer Vincent on bass and Skip Walker on drums.
Travis Shook, pianist, composer and arranger has an impressive line-up of musicians he’s worked with over the past four decades. Count Basie’s bassist Buddy Catlett, Reggie Workman, Eddie Harris, Joe Lovano, Toots Thielemans, Rufus Reid, Chuck Israels, Ira, Coleman, Bunky Green, Tony Williams, Ernestine Anderson, Branford Marsalis, Benny Golson, Clifford Jordan, late Michael Brecker, George Benson, Sonny Simmons, Michael Franks, Gino Vanelli, and Chris Botti are among the list of many great jazz artists.
Jennifer Vincent, bassist and cellist, has been an active force on the music scene in New York City for decades. She plays and has played and toured with Betty Carter, Abbey Lincoln, the famed Boy’s Choir of Harlem, Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra led by Arturo O’Farrill, Willie Martinez y La Familia, Son Sublime, the Xavier Cougat Orchestra, the Roberto Rodriguez Septet, Carmen Lundy, Harry Whittaker, (longtime artistic director and keyboardist for Roberta Flack), Jon Hendricks, the Duke Ellington Orchestra and many other jazz, R&B, Pop notables.
Skip Walker, drummer, composer, producer, educator, and Episcopal Priest. He is a graduate of Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music (the world’s foremost institution for the study of Jazz and modern American music) where he studied with renowned drummers John Ramsay, Skip Hadden, and Ed Uribe.
Skip got his first break at the age of seventeen touring Europe as the drummer for the New York-based funk group “The Fatback Band,” but after hearing great jazz drummers such as Art Blakey, Max Roach, Roy Haynes, Elvin Jones and Tony Williams, Skip slowly began falling in love with Jazz. His new CD release “Tina’s Contemplation: A Reflection on the Compositions of Tina Brooks” with pianist Travis Shook and bassist Essiet Okon Essiet.
